Louis-Ulysse Chopard founded his own watchmaking workshop in 1860 in Sonvillier in the Swiss Jura valley. In 1963 it was acquired by the Scheufele family who established its headquarters in Geneva. Internationally recognized for its watches and jewelry, the Group has 2,000 employees worldwide. It is independent and with a vertically integrated production which controls the entire process, from design to distribution through 1600 outlets and 150 own boutiques. More than 30 different trades are carried out in the 4 factories, stressing the in-shop training. Chopard owes its reputation to iconic collections like “Happy Diamonds” “Happy Sport” and “Mille Miglia”. It is also well known for its High Jewellery creations and Haute Horlogerie through his collection of watches L.U.C.
According to two of its fundamental values, respect and social responsibility, Chopard is strongly committed to several philanthropic organizations. A long-term relationship with Jose Carreras Foundation for Leukemia and Elton John Foundation against AIDS among others. Two years ago Chopard launched a multi-year sustainable luxury program “The Journey” in cooperation with Eco Age and ARM (Association for Responsible Mining), Chopard became the first watchmaker and luxury jewelry brand in the world which helps gold mining communities with the Fairmined certificate, providing them with training, social benefits and environmental support as well. At last but not less important Chopard is a partner of International Cannes Film Festival and classic car events such as the Mille Miglia and Grand Prix de Monaco Historique.
